About Us

Empathize, Encourage, and Support are the three foundational words that we employ.

About Chris Forte.
A life-long horse lover, and EBHRC Founder.

Chris Forté has been passionate about horses all her life. In fact, “horses” was her first word. Her entry into professional equine-training occurred more than forty years ago when she was hired to “break” and train a small band of captured mustangs for a dude ranch in the Rocky Mountains of southern Montana. Chris met the challenge and within two weeks children were riding the horses.

“I simply sat with the horses until they came to me and discovered my hands were good for scratching their withers and my pockets were full of treats!” In no time at all the horses realized that it was fun to be ridden!

Horse owners involved in many different disciplines, including racing, dressage, trail, and jumping, have sought out Chris for advice and to rehabilitate problem horses. She developed EBHRC when she realized that horse owners needed help learning how to befriend their equine companions.

Mission and Vision
Befriended not broken.

The EBHRC is designed to help horse people and their horses learn to talk to each other, to listen to each other, and to enjoy each other's company while interacting side-by-side, or when the human partner sits astride his/her equine companion.

Iron Horse Park.
A sanctuary for human and horse to strengthen their friendship.

The EBHRC is located at Chris Forte’s Iron Horse Park, in Orangevale, California, at the foot of the Sierras. Iron Horse Park is five minutes from the Western States Trail, and twenty-five minutes from down-town Sacramento. It is beautifully landscaped with a profusion of roses, tall trees and green lawns. Iron Horse Park offers an Olympic- size dressage arena, a warm-up arena, a play area, a cross-country jump course, a trail trials course, a pond, and riding trails.
